Interactive Portable Projector (ipProjector) is a project developed during 2006 to 2011, in Robot Group of Interaction Technology Laboratory (ITL), The University of Tokyo, under supervision of Associate Professor Masanori Sugimoto. The project is now end due to Ph.D. graduation of the project developer.

ipProjector focuses on vision- and geometry-based interactive projection using a portable projection device in an unknown environment.

The primary concerns are ubiquitous projection technologies, computer vision algorithms and real-time sensing devices. Three goals of this project are:

• to create an innovative system configuration which is single self-contained and truly portable
• to develop a software framework that states and solves fundamental problems of the project
• to build an interactive application based on the developed technologies

ipProjector concerns on not only real-time projection but also real-time object/environment recognition. The real-time recognition allows our developed systems to project interactive responses correctly regarding a dynamic arbitrary environment containing unknown objects.

Usage scenarios of ipProjector are related to ubiquitous projections and everywhere interactive surfaces.
